No rank is permanent! (With the exception of Owner in the case of MalHT, KieraanBreeze, and JMALego)

A recent conversation with many members of the staff has led me to the conclusion that many members of staff are slacking off because they believe they are impervious to demotion. I will be watching the actions of the staff members for the next few weeks to see if they are really living up to their rank.

A reminder to staff what they should be doing to fullfil their duties:

• Mods -- Moderating the server; making sure new users are not being naughty and such
• Admins -- A step up from Mod; Administrating on the server; taking administrative action when things are bad. This does not just include banning, it includes contributing ideas to help the server, and being a part of our staff community
• Admin+s -- Admins who go above and beyond said duties. Consistently helping out other users, being a leader in the staff community, and bringing up issues to Owners when they come up. These people are Owners without SSH (not literally, but almost). If an Owner isn't around (which seems to be a common occurrence these days), people should report to Admin+s, telling them what's going on, and asking them to try to fix it with the in-game tools they have. If they cannot do anything, then it comes to an Owner

If you do not fit the characteristics of your rank, you will be given the rank that you deserve. This may be just a single rank demotion, or even a complete kick from staff.

I will be talking to the specific people mentioned in our conversation to give them a little nudge in the right direction. And remember, this post might have nothing to do with you! You may very well be getting a promotion if a spot opens up!

I will find out how to add this rule to the #Rules thing on the homepage, however it's not important enough to be in the actual game:

Rule #9! If you are a member of staff, you must be on at least once a month to keep your rank! If you are going away on a vacation, or have testing, just drop in and leave a Stream post! Some form of concrete proof that you told us! Maybe even just write down the date so we can go back and check the chatlogs!

If you cannot ban people on the server, this rule does not apply to you. Just a heads up! Happy Minecrafting.

Update! WorldEdit and WorldGuard for some strange reason do not work with GroupManager as of now. I'm assuming it has something to do with SuperPerms support on the side of World___, so we'll just have to wait for an update. If it does not work once a 1.1 version is released, then we will have to switch to PermissionsEX, or another SuperPerms manager (even though GroupManager claims to have updated to the SuperPerms interface).

SUPER HAPPY AWESOME UPDATE #2! Whoever recently the Permissions for our server is an absolute fuck. They actually took away worldedit.* from g:Admin in globalgroups.yml (which I'm not even sure why we had configured). I essentially merged globalgroups.yml with groups.yml and got rid of all of the derpy permissions that the recent editor added. Now WorldEdit and WorldGuard works.

Hello Arcatorians! Now, this is an idea I have just come up with. I haven't discussed with the other Owners, but I don't see why they would have a problem with it. I believe that I have determined the problem with MC3 (a faulty Linux drive). Once I get it up and working, before the official RPG MC3 goes up, I will be sponsoring an Arcator Race for the Wool match.

For those of you who don't know what RftW is, it's a competition map made by Vech (creator of the Vech's Super Hostile map series). Essentially, there are three chests, each with a different color wool (red, green, and blue). Each team has an identical arena, and must race to reach these three chests (battling through dungeons and obstacles) and return the wool to the "Victory Monument" at the start, while also avoiding TNT cannons and arrows fired from the opposing team.

I suggest we have Owners vs. Admin+s, except, due to the lack of JMA, we have uneven teams. This means one Admin+ will need to sit out and be a Moderator. They will film the competition while following the participants around, as well as make sure all participants are playing fairly. This Admin+ must be able to handle recording Minecraft with minimal lag. If no Admin+ is capable of this, a regular Admin will.

If this idea develops, we may be able to shape this into a full tournament, where members of the server are allowed to create their own teams and compete in a single-elimination tournament against other teams. It is suggested that you download the map and practice on your own, learning the amount of blocks between dungeons so you can easily travel underground. Also, you may want to practice your archery, because taking down opposing members will be essential to your teams success.

Comment if you would like this to be a tournament, rather than an Admin+ v. Owner match, and also comment if you support the idea and think it would be fun.

NOTE: There will be a 15-player cap on the server, which means with:

• 4 Owners participating
• 4 Admin+s participating
• and 1 Admin+ moderating

There is only room for 6 spectators. These spectators must be staff members, and also must be vanished and not interfering with the match. If a spectator breaks these rules, they are subject to punishment on the entire network. Comment if you would like to spectate, and the official list will be decided.

Update #1: Building off of helzee's idea: There will now be a tournament. There will first be play-in rounds where your team must play for a chance to enter the quarter-finals. 8 teams will make it to the quarter-finals. The number of play-in rounds is dependent on the number of teams that apply. Start making a team!

Update #2: There seems to be some confusion. Your team may consist of 4 players of any rank. There will be a random draw to decide the brackets of this competition. There will first be "play-in" rounds where you compete in preliminary rounds (that are not recorded). The winners of these matches (there will be 8 total) will compete in the quarter-finals, the winners of those will compete in the semi-finals, and the two winners will then go on to compete against each other in the CHAMPIONSHIP! Before this championship, there will be an Admin+ v. Owner game. It is undecided whether it will be 5 on 4, or whether an Admin+ will sit out. See below for a list of teams and recorders. Spectators will be drawn randomly once all of the matches are decided.

Update #3: Now that this post has been seen by many, I have created new rules for the tournament. There is a maximum of 16 teams, and you must register your team by Thursday, February 2th(...2th)?, 2012 at 0000 UTC (midnight).

Attention all!

Due to many people asking, I have added the old world to MultiVerse! Admins and up can access it with:

/mvtp oldworld

If you would like to show an Admin where your build is so they can copy it to the new world, ask them to teleport you into the old world and bring them to it.

The reason this is only available to Admins is because Admins are the only one's with WorldEdit, and we don't need random people waltzing around the old world; it's only there to copy old builds. If someone can give a valid reason why Mods and below would need the old world, then I'll reconsider.

Admins:

To teleport other people into the world, type:

/mvtp <playername> oldworld

This will only be available until next Monday! Do not dawdle! I suggest we copy the large mario ASAP. I also suggest you download the WorldEdit clientside Mod to ensure that you are copying the entire build and not just a portion of it.

Arcator was founded on principles of fairness and equality, so everyone should be able to enjoy the game without paying. So, all the benefits of donations in terms of Minecraft permissions, will be limited to these small "perks".

So, I know there is also a donation drive for MC1 going on, but so many people have been asking about MC3 so I just have to get this out there:

Since my uncle (who typically give me a lot of money for Christmas) did not give me anything this year, I am short about $220 in getting MC3 back up. I will later be creating a PayPal account, which will be exclusively for the server. I vow here and now that I will not use any of the money for personal matters. It goes 100% to updating the hardware used on the server.

Hello Arcatorians! I have recently started a project in which many fellow players have assisted me. It is know as Acronym-based Spawn Shitiness Cleanup (Credits to Mal for the name). If you have WorldEdit and see a build that is unfavorable, or just generally any pixel art (sorry, guys, but we should really reserve the spots at spawn for avatars and ruleboards and minecart stations), cut-paste it to /warp flatgrass.

If you think your build was deleted, check the flatgrass. If it's not there, report it to an Admin as a grief. I can expand the flatgrass as needed, because it's not really a flatgrass, but rather an area of the forest that I cleared up.

So, I will reiterate: If your build was moved, it may not be because it's just ugly, but maybe just because the spawn doesn't need to be filled with endless pixel arts.
