--- Global Bans

The base rules for being an Admin:
1) You may NOT promote yourself or any other user to Moderator, Admin or Owner status without ensuring that said promotion has been accepted and confirmed.

2) When using WorldEdit, LogBlock and Stickii, ensure you know at all times what you are doing and what effects it will have. It is your responsibility to install the WorldEdit Clientside Mod to help avoid cockups.

3) Respect the owners at all times.

4) Your role is to help new users and fight griefing - it is NOT to have fun or gain extra powers or building tools - although those are the benefits of the job. If you don't help, and insist that you are an admin because you "build good things," then tough. Some people build amazing structures without even being VIP.

Your main role is to fight griefing. For example: someone calls for your help - they found evidence of griefing or they were griefed. Here is what to do after that:

  • Tell them NOT to fix it until you find the culprit. If they fix it completely then it is difficult to find the culprit.
  • Teleport to them and find exactly what was griefed.
  • If blocks were placed right click them with a gold shovel. If results for placement are found, read them and decide if that person deliberately griefed.
  • If liquid was placed or blocks were removed, use /lb area 10 within 10 blocks of the deleted block or source block. It will display all edits, and you can continue as above. Alternatively, use the Locked chest (/i 95 1) and place it to see edits to an empty space.
  • If it was a clear, malicious grief then ban the player and create a suitable MC Ban on the website.
  • If it is less serious then post a Warning or make a Temporary ban.
  • You can then start a rollback if neccesary. Use /lb rollback (see below) - but only if they haven't built other good structures as well. Do not clear the log if it asks you.

LogBlock Rollback Command:
/lb rollback player [player] since [time]

If you need to rollback a specific area only:
/lb rollback [player [player]] area [radius]

If a user on the server does any of the following offences:

  • Destroying items not owned by the target abuser,
  • causing destruction without permission,
  • causing harm to the server,
  • griefing players,
  • griefing server,
  • anything to do with racism (to include bigotry & homophobia) and the creation of nazi symbols.

Use the command /ban <player> g <reason> - the reason must be short and descriptive with no swearing.

When an offence doesn't fit into any of those categories, such as disrespect of mods or admins, the normal ban command must be used, but with a reason. I will be monitoring the bans made and WILL punish those who don't document them correctly. All it takes is a few extra keystrokes.

Oh, and temporary bans use the new /tempban <player> <time> <d,h,m,s> <reason>

ADDITIONALLY, you must now create an MC Ban on the site for any ban (except in times of flood, e.g. "Avo" attacks).

REASON IS REQUIRED FOR EVERYTHING.

It is also good to know that the following are INVALID reasons for a global ban:

MCBans wrote:

Examples of Invalid Ban Reasons
1. Foul language or swearing (once again not all servers are censored)
2. Duping ( doing this is not possible anymore, do not use it as a reason. )
3. Attacking admins, or PvPing ( if you don't want them to PvP, turn PvP off )
4. Spamming ( if you're not going to be specific about what they are spamming its a local ban ) ( "SpamBot" is the official reason for spamming with hacks! )
5. Rudeness to mod/admins, insulting the server ( this can be one-sided, who knows if the admin/mod was not being rude back. )
6. Too many bans ( banning because the players rep is too low will be changed IMMEDIATELY, do NOT decrease players rep with invalid bans )
7. Texture pack hacks ( this cannot be proven )
8. Saying "watch out for this player/danger/warning". When the player logs into a server, it does the warning, it doesn't need to be in the reason.
9. "Breaking Rules" (we cannot justify if a player is breaking your server rules, or not, because your rules might not be the same as others, thus we cannot justify this)
10. Advertising, Not a valid global ban!
