Helzee's Resignation

Yes, I am resigning from my staff position on Arcator. I have had a ton of good times on this server and made a lot of new friends, I even made some valuable contributions to it. But as of late I have begun to realize that none of this truly matters (I'm not trying to be blunt that's just my opinion). I am leaving because of the game itself and the repetitive politics that take place in the network almost daily. In more than a year of my time on this server I turned a simple game into a daily commitment full of politics and late nights sometimes even putting it before more important things such as homework. But there isn't very much that I can take from these experiences. I can't tell stories to my kids about fighting team Avolition, I can't apply my Logblock skills to school projects, and my high ban count certainly isn't going to help me in any job interviews. I plan on spending most of my home time now working on more productive activities such as piano, djembe, short films, drawing, and also trying to feed my love of the outdoors a bit more. It seems like all kids take for granted the amount of free time they actually have. I have three summers left before college and I want to spend the last of my childhood free time doing things that I can look back on with more pride than video games.

I am also resigning because I have simply gotten bored of Arcator politics. Every day the same feuds seem to happen... "SK83RJOSH SWEARS AT LITTLE KIDS!!!", "SOMEONE IS MAD AT BANANA937!!!", "DAH SERVER NEEDS TO BE UPDATED!!!". Arcator just isn't as interesting to me as it was in 2011. Oh, and the courtesy rules of Arcator should really be burned down. Picky rules like these only make Arcator less spontaneous and more uniform. This is a Minecraft server network, not the goddamn U.S. senate!

Aside from a bit of heartbreak I won't be doing much harm to the server by resigning from it. My days as a strapping young admin are over and though I may be much more experienced, I don't catch nearly as much griefers as I used to. Most of my 139 bans were made from July to December. I hope someone more motivated can take my spot as admin+ soon after I am gone. I promise to visit IRC often and if you really need to talk to me you can add me on Facebook.

P.P.S. I meant to post this at the same time Kyle posted his resignation but I decided not to at the last minute. (I didn’t want to worry about it while I was in the middle of finals week). So I am not resigning just because kyle did… it is somewhat coincidental that we both decided to resign at around the same time.
